as always i am very late on writing my review. i can't remember the exact deadline i had but i'm sure it's long gone by now. anyway i really liked this book a lot. i have many of Bussel's BDSM books that she's edited and this is one of my favorites. i mostly liked the stories in the middle of the book, that's always where the juicy stuff is. the little slices of life you glimpse in this book make me wanna live the lifestyle. these books are always my escape from my real life into a fantastical one.

Most of the stories were okay, others were amazing, and only one didn't grab my attention. "Under Direction" was not doing it for me. i liked the story but the sub was annoying the hell outta me. i could have done without that one.

i have to say "Tackling Jessica" and "Subbing" were my favorites. those were the only stories i reread after i finished the book. i am looking forward to reading even more from Bussel and the erotic world of submission.

Review for Peter Nimble and His Fantastic Eyes by Jonathan Auxier

Peter Nimble and His Fantastic Eyes is a stand alone children's novel written by Jonathan Auxier.


such an amazing story. i was blown away with Peter and Sir Tode's adventure. it was a great story about great characters that was beautifully written by Jonathan Auxier. i can't wait to read other books from him.

Peter Nimble is the greatest thief in the world. at only ten, he has come to have the greatest and sneakiest skills known to every criminal. being blind only enhances his thievery but also makes his life that much harder. coming across three pairs of fantastic eyes, his life will change forever.

i was surprised with how much i liked this book. i was expecting a light, childish adventure. instead i got a book filled with rich words that painted incredible pictures that took me to another world. i am seriously fan-girling right now. i can't help but gush over this story. it's damn near perfect. every chapter pulled you in deeper and deeper until there was no chance of wanting to put the book down.

even thought he's a child, Peter read more like a young adult to me. in my opinion, Peter's adventure was a little too adult for children to read. especially when he gets stranded on Just Deserts. the prisoners were very menacing to Peter. it even had me freaking out a little bit. all of the battle scenes were heavy and not taken lightly. this is a story where bad things will happen and people will die. don't read this book expecting a fluffy read. shit gets real here.

i loved every single character in this book. the heroes and villains were equally amazing. Peter stands out above all the rest with Sir Tode as a close second. their friendship was great. i was definitely rooting for them the entire time. Simon the crow and peg the princess were awesome characters too. i was really into the story once they were introduced.

all in all, this was a whirlwind novel. i will positively be rereading this in the future.

Review for Eternal Kiss of Darkness by Jeaniene Frost

Eternal Kiss of Darkness is the second book in the Night Huntress spin-off series written by Jeaniene Frost. The first is titled One Drop of Crimson. 


shame on me for having to do this half-ass review but i want to do at least two reviews a month and i'm past my deadline for this one. it's kinda like trying to have a meaning conversation while drunk, you know you're not gonna make sense but who cares because you're drunk, you gotta say what you gotta say. i'm not drunk, i swear. i'm writing this review at work.

in this spin-off book in the Cat universe, Mancheres gets to sow his oats with the headstrong Kira. she is a very likable character. she doesn't take anyone's BS but she isn't a bitch either. she reminded me of Cat in the early Night Huntress books. they're both capable women who love their men and can kick some ass. i thought it was a little unrealistic that she adapted to being a vampire so quickly but in a romance novel, you're allowed a few stretches.

Mancheres was shown in a whole new light in this book. in his other appearances, i didn't find myself attracted to him at all. no sexual thoughts were going through my mind when Bones and Cat had to deal with him. but when Jeaniene Frost is writing about his long luscious hair and his ripped body dripping with water from the pool, then homeboy gets a sexy makeover that i was loving. the enemy of this book had a great story with Mancheres. sometimes the villain can seem to come out of thin air and the conflict is shaky. but the feud between Mancheres and Radje felt heavy and real. the way Radje is dealt with in the end is by far one of the best death scenes in this series.

this is it for the Night Huntress World spin-off. i'm caught up in the first series, patiently waiting for the new installment. and now i can finally start the Night Prince series. so excited for that one :)

Review for Dead Ever After by Charlaine Harris

Dead After Dark is the final Sookie Stackhouse novel. The paranormal mystery series is written by Charlaine Harris.


i am glad this series is over. i fell in love with Sookie Stackhouse with the show True Blood. that show made me interested to read the books that inspired it. Dead Until Dark pulled me in. and the next few books blew me away. they were like candy for the brain. i got a rush from reading them. even though they weren't in the running to win a Pulitzer prize, they had heart and i loved them.

then this book happened. i was excited to see how Charlaine Harris would wrap up her beloved character's lives but this mess made me wish they were all killed by a rogue vampire in a fit of rage. Sookie was so annoying in this book, i wanted to shot in her pretty little blonde head with her big titties and suntanned skin. that's how she was described on almost every page. Harris took her sweet time telling me very detail of Sookie's look for the day instead of focusing on the threat of her life. hello!!! there are at least three people trying to kill her in the book. and she was charged with murder. let's focus on the mystery aspect of the book instead of her moisturizing her legs and debating on what top to wear with her shorts.

next come's the romance. how i hated her harem of men in this book. Bill is just there. why wasn't he killed off a few books ago? Alcide shows up to sniff out an intruder/possible killer. now i can't be mad at Alcide no matter what he's doing. he's the hottest of Sookie's boy toys. Quinn shows up with his gleaming bald head. he's so boring to me. Eric is made out to be the villain. i swear Harris was trying her best to paint Eric in the worst way so i could hate him and be glad when Sookie and him broke up. ummmmm NOPE. Eric was always the one for Sookie and we all know it. and then there's Sam. i have no words for him. on the show, i love him. in the books, he should have died a long time ago with Bill. he has never been a thought provoking character to me and i hated that he was an important part of the final book.

i am disappointed. i am devastated. i will take refuge in the show since it's almost entirely different from the books. and that's all folks.

Review for The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson

The Girl of Fire and Thorns is the first in the Fire and Thorns series written by Rae Carson. The second book is called The Crown of Embers. The third book, The Bitter Kingdom, is set to be released in August of this year.


i'm usually interested in the books my book clubs choose to read. however, i had never heard of this one. the cover completely turned me off from reading it and the first few chapters felt like a chore to read. but i'm glad i stuck with it because i ended up enjoying this book and am looking forward to the next book in the series.

Elisa has a belly button ring that is a gift from God. it connects her to him and it gives her life a meaningful purpose, except she doesn't know what that purpose is. at first, i found Elisa to be a whiny insecure kid. reading from her POV was giving me a headache and i was just about to throw the book at a customer in frustration when Part 2 of the book kicks in. thank god for that because i thought this book was gonna be a lost cause. Elisa meets some people that believe she is their salvation. slowly but surely, she starts to believe it too and grows into a pretty reliable and likable heroine.

i wouldn't say this is a romance novel at all. there are some love interests for Elisa but Rae Carson really puts in on the back burner to focus on Elisa discovering who she is and what she's capable of. her husband, Alejandro, was not at all interesting to me. the only thing that caught her attention about him was his looks and his inability to make decisions. that right there was enough for me to almost completely forget about him. Humberto, on the other hand, was a great character and i wish he had had a little more back story to him. he really helped Elisa find herself, making me like him even more.

the religion and fantasy tones of the book are its strong points. i was pleasantly surprised to find that the book wasn't preaching at me about faith and God. it's a major part of the book but it's not thrown in your face on every page. the fact that the magical elements came from God was fascinating to me. it's really all about faith and having the strength to believe in something and fight for it. everyone can agree with that. i hope with the second, Elisa and her friends just jump right into the action. i don't think i can take more of her slow pacing.
