Review for Pivot Point by Kasie West

Pivot Point is a young adult novel written by Kasie West. The sequel is titled Split Second and is to be released next year.


i really though i was going to hate this book. i always assume that every new young adult book i'm about to read is a piece of crap and that i'm about to waste my time reading it. i was dead wrong because i absolutely loved this book. i stayed up all night reading it, didn't go to bed until 2 am. i couldn't put it down. every time i thought i could wait until tomorrow to finish reading it, it would pull me right back in.

when faced with a choice, Addison can "search" her future and live out both outcomes. this ability is very handy now that her parents are getting divorced and she has to choice which parent to live with. if she goes with her dad, she'll go live among normal people with no abilities. she'll become close with Trevor, a guy who understands her. if she stays at the compound with her mom she'll fall for the hottest guy in school.

i was rooting for Trevor the entire time. from the jump i knew something was off about Duke, the popular boy from school. he was just too smooth. i'm curious to see how he'll be written into the second book. hopefully he'll be written out of the story. Trevor is another story. i loved him from the moment he was introduced. his background was great and i liked how it connected to Addison's story. he wasn't just a love interest, he was actually a plot line for the story. Addison was great. she wasn't overly dramatic or helpless. she didn't apologize for the way she was, she was just herself throughout the whole story.

the ending just about killed me. knowing that the whole book was the future that hadn't happened yet was keeping me on the edge of my seat. which future would be the best for her and her friends and family? which would she choose? the epilogue made me so excited for the second book. i really hope the Trevor and Addison work it out. they are one of the best YA novel couples ever written.

Review for She's on Top by Rachel Kramer Bussel

so obviously i did not get this book from my local library. (although how cool would that be if the library had an erotica section!) instead, i bought it from my local sex shop. see, those places aren't always seedy or only carry toys. you can get literature there too. and i got to say this is one of the best erotica books i have ever read. sometimes i can appreciate the stories without getting hot and bothered but this book seriously had me feeling some kind of way...and that way was horny.

i loved every single story except one. The Queening Chair by Kate Dominic was not good to me. it read more as a funny story than a erotic one. i kept laughing as the "Queen" was describing all the great head she was getting to her boyfriend. Room 2201 was definitely one of my favorites. i liked the use of humiliation and the guy on guy action. Why Can't I Be You? was also great, although too short for me to fully enjoy the story. gender bending erotica might be something i have to look into since that story interested me so much.

i have made it a personal mission to buy every single BDSM book published by Cleis. they have the best authors writing the best stories of this stuff. i'm glad that i can add this book to my growing collection.

as always i am very late on writing my review. i can't remember the exact deadline i had but i'm sure it's long gone by now. anyway i really liked this book a lot. i have many of Bussel's BDSM books that she's edited and this is one of my favorites. i mostly liked the stories in the middle of the book, that's always where the juicy stuff is. the little slices of life you glimpse in this book make me wanna live the lifestyle. these books are always my escape from my real life into a fantastical one.

Most of the stories were okay, others were amazing, and only one didn't grab my attention. "Under Direction" was not doing it for me. i liked the story but the sub was annoying the hell outta me. i could have done without that one.

Review for Peter Nimble and His Fantastic Eyes by Jonathan Auxier

Peter Nimble and His Fantastic Eyes is a stand alone children's novel written by Jonathan Auxier.


such an amazing story. i was blown away with Peter and Sir Tode's adventure. it was a great story about great characters that was beautifully written by Jonathan Auxier. i can't wait to read other books from him.

Peter Nimble is the greatest thief in the world. at only ten, he has come to have the greatest and sneakiest skills known to every criminal. being blind only enhances his thievery but also makes his life that much harder. coming across three pairs of fantastic eyes, his life will change forever.

i was surprised with how much i liked this book. i was expecting a light, childish adventure. instead i got a book filled with rich words that painted incredible pictures that took me to another world. i am seriously fan-girling right now. i can't help but gush over this story. it's damn near perfect. every chapter pulled you in deeper and deeper until there was no chance of wanting to put the book down.

even thought he's a child, Peter read more like a young adult to me. in my opinion, Peter's adventure was a little too adult for children to read. especially when he gets stranded on Just Deserts. the prisoners were very menacing to Peter. it even had me freaking out a little bit. all of the battle scenes were heavy and not taken lightly. this is a story where bad things will happen and people will die. don't read this book expecting a fluffy read. shit gets real here.

i loved every single character in this book. the heroes and villains were equally amazing. Peter stands out above all the rest with Sir Tode as a close second. their friendship was great. i was definitely rooting for them the entire time. Simon the crow and peg the princess were awesome characters too. i was really into the story once they were introduced.

all in all, this was a whirlwind novel. i will positively be rereading this in the future.

Review for Eternal Kiss of Darkness by Jeaniene Frost

Eternal Kiss of Darkness is the second book in the Night Huntress spin-off series written by Jeaniene Frost. The first is titled One Drop of Crimson. 


shame on me for having to do this half-ass review but i want to do at least two reviews a month and i'm past my deadline for this one. it's kinda like trying to have a meaning conversation while drunk, you know you're not gonna make sense but who cares because you're drunk, you gotta say what you gotta say. i'm not drunk, i swear. i'm writing this review at work.

in this spin-off book in the Cat universe, Mancheres gets to sow his oats with the headstrong Kira. she is a very likable character. she doesn't take anyone's BS but she isn't a bitch either. she reminded me of Cat in the early Night Huntress books. they're both capable women who love their men and can kick some ass. i thought it was a little unrealistic that she adapted to being a vampire so quickly but in a romance novel, you're allowed a few stretches.

Mancheres was shown in a whole new light in this book. in his other appearances, i didn't find myself attracted to him at all. no sexual thoughts were going through my mind when Bones and Cat had to deal with him. but when Jeaniene Frost is writing about his long luscious hair and his ripped body dripping with water from the pool, then homeboy gets a sexy makeover that i was loving. the enemy of this book had a great story with Mancheres. sometimes the villain can seem to come out of thin air and the conflict is shaky. but the feud between Mancheres and Radje felt heavy and real. the way Radje is dealt with in the end is by far one of the best death scenes in this series.

this is it for the Night Huntress World spin-off. i'm caught up in the first series, patiently waiting for the new installment. and now i can finally start the Night Prince series. so excited for that one :)
