And finally, I can say I gave Dickey a full fledged attempt to enjoy his books. It's just not for me. I feel that he has a horrible female voice and the dialogue is cringey. I did appreciate the genuine friendship between the blackbirds. No one was plotting against the other or secretly hated each other. It was black women looking out for one another.
This series is beyond ridiculous, in the best way possible. We've now been introduced to even more wacky superheroes. My favorite is Bang, a crabby looking old hero who'll probably get along swimmingly with Saitama. I can't wait until they meet. And it looks like Saitama might have some work cut out for him with these seafolk monsters. On second thought, he'll probably defeat their king in just one punch like always. The author has a habit of teasing real fights.
Too bad I didn't like the movie as much as I did this book. It's so interesting to read about all the different creatures that I've seen on film and all the ones I haven't yet. It makes me eager to watch the other films, even though I'm not entirely excited about them. I just want more Newt Scamander and his troublesome beasts. The little notes from harry were cute but didn't add anything to the reading experience. Just the book on its own was more than enough for me.
This book was so freaking good. It has surpassed the excellency of Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?, in terms of making me completely fall for a celebrity. I was not a huge fan of Kendrick's filmography. I did think she was talented but she wasn't someone who would make me want to see anything she was in. After reading this book, I still feel that way. But, she'll be more on my radar from now on. Her writing style is so funny and relatable. There wasn't a chapter where I didn't laugh out loud at something she wrote. I'm hoping this is more of an authentic writing endeavor and not the brain child of some ghostwriter. If Kendrick ever wanted to put out another memoir, I'd be one of the first people to read it.

I wanted so much more from this reading experience. I expected to feel a kinship with the author, feel like what he was saying were all the things I've been thinking. And most of what he wrote was engaging and struck a cord with me. It just failed to connect in a meaningful and lasting away. Part of the problem was that I had to stop every other page and pull out a dictionary. It's a good thing to have an expansive vocabulary but I felt it didn't fit with what the book was trying to be. It made me feel mentally fatigued. I just wanted the book to be over. 
I forgot how much I loved Dessen's novels. She is one of the best YA authors ever. Her books just get me. I loved Auden, she's a great protagonist. I related to her struggles of finding a balance between the person she thinks she needs to be and who she actually is. A summer trip to her father's helps her discover a new side to herself. She has to deal with social interactions, a love interest, and her parent's shortcomings all at once. It's a rough adjustment period but Auden holds her own against it all. If Dessen ever wanted to revisit her as an adult, I'd be down to read that. 
I always take too long in-between reading each volume so I rarely remember what happened before. That didn't stop me from diving right into this one though. We get some action that's been delayed in order to establish the upcoming fight. The DWMA students still have a long way to go before they can be an actual threat to Arachnophobia and Medusa but they get better and stronger with each lesson learned. And I just knew Stein was gonna lose his mind on that island. I just hope he doesn't take out any of his comrades when he inevitably goes over to the dark side.
This book was never on my radar. It was on display at the library and I felt like the woman on the cover was calling me to her. "Check me out. Take me home with you." That was a few months ago and I've finally read it. I am so glad I decided to read this. Rarely do I read books that I know nothing about. This one was interesting enough it keep me reading. I have way more questions that answers of who wants Elle dead and why but I'm eager to read the other volumes and fond out more.
