Review for Poe by J. Lincoln Fenn

Poe is a paranormal adult novel written by J. Lincoln Fenn. it is her first novel.

a copy of this book was provided through Net Galley

forgive me if this review is all over the place but i don't really have a lot to say about this book. i didn't know what to make of this novel. at first i thought it was a young adult ghost story. it does have the voice of a younger protagonist but Dimitri is definitely a grown man dealing with some big problems. it took me a while to get into the story but i enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it to someone looking for a spooky story that leaves you in suspense.

the book starts off with Dimitri waking up in the morgue. how he got there isn't the mystery; the supernatural aspect of it will make you wonder what the hell is going on. i kept going back and forth on whether it was a regular ghost or demons Dimitri was dealing with. turns out his father was a demon hunter and a demon with a grudge against his family is back for revenge. the only good thing about this is it brings Dimitri and Lisa together. she is a great love interest. she can take care of herself and most of the time is saving Dimitri from himself. Poe, the title of the book, is one of the demons that are causing Dimitri trouble. you're not really sure if she's good or bad but she's by far the best part of this book. the ending leaves her true nature up in the air but i like to think that she's one of the good guys.

speaking of the ending, it doesn't resolve anything. the demon possessed killer gets away and no one is sure where he is. the only thing that gets dealt with is stopping him from being invincible. there is a possibility that there could be another book but i won;t be reading it. i was satisfied with the somewhat cliffhanger ending and i'll leave it at that. i thought this book was slightly above average with that potential of being amazing. i'm sure Fenn's next book will knock it out of the park.
